Peer Counselor
All you need is a desire to reach out in the name of Christ to the hurting and hopeless and a willingness to listen, mentor, and pray. Self-paced training right at the Center. After training you will be observing veteran counselors prior to counseling. If you can give four hours per week, we need you! Call Judy with questions.
Receptionist/office
A four-hour per week commitment requiring a friendly demeanor and an ability to keep confidentiality is necessary in this position. A heart for the Lord which shines forth in love is expected as the receptionist is likely the first person our client’s encounter.
Committee member
Our board has 5 committees for which it needs workers:
- Building/grounds – Responsible for repairs, renovations, capital needs, interior/exterior appearance.
- Finances – Responsible for budgetary concerns, projections, oversight of fundraising other than events.
- Communication/Marketing – Responsible for advertising, promoting, community awareness.
- Events – Responsible for annual LifeWalk, Fall banquet, Baby Bottle Boomerang, and any other fundraising events.
- Programs – Responsible for supporting the ongoing ministry including funding for Incentive program, (yard sales, teas, auctions, baby showers, etc.), expanding Life Plan class offerings, and supporting the staff and volunteers.
Committees generally meet once every other month, sometimes more often preceding an event or responsibility.
Life Plan Class teacher
Do you have a skill our clients may need to learn? Teachers are needed for classes such as but not limited to, budgeting, resume’ preparation and dressing for success, basic computer skills, creative childplay. Let God use the skills He has given you to benefit others. We especially need an experienced labor & delivery preparation teacher.
Blessings (layette) Room and Maternity Room coordinators
Make up baby layettes from donated items or sort, size and display maternity clothing for clients.
Commitment is once every other week for 2-3 hours.
Hold a Baby Shower or be a Garage Sale-er for M.P.S.
This could also include asking stores to donate clothing or baby furniture.
Building & Yard Maintenance
Window washing, painting of distressed exterior areas of the building– as needed. Gardening Spring, Summer, Fall. One-time and ongoing opportunities.
Baby Furniture Coordinator
We receive donated items such as cribs and car seats, which need to be cleaned and examined for safety before distribution. This job would include sorting and cataloguing these items as well. This job may best be done by a team. (Once or twice a month)
Sewing (or knitting) and mending
Mending of donated maternity or baby clothing and/or making maternity and baby clothes.
